Steve BirelineGuthrie County REC Board President Steve Bireline is the new co-op representative on the Central Iowa Power Cooperative (CIPCO) Board of Directors.

CIPCO is a generation and transmission cooperative that supplies power to 12 rural electric cooperatives and one municipal utility association across 58 of Iowa’s 99 counties. As a CIPCO member, Guthrie County REC purchases power from CIPCO and distributes it to our members. As a 24/7 energy provider, CIPCO meets its member-owners’ needs by providing a diverse fuel mix of coal, nuclear, hydroelectric, wind, solar, landfill gas, natural gas and oil energy resources.

Bireline has been a GCREC director since 1997, representing District 6 in southern Guthrie County, and a co-op member since 1980. He lives in Adair with his wife Tammy and has four grown children and eight grandchildren. He is a farmer and owner of Westline Fencing and MCS Ag Drainage and has been active with the Adair Fire Department and as a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
