What to do in the event of a power outage...
If you have no power - check these things before calling to report the outage.
-
Check fuses and breakers inside your home and outside at the pole. If the meter displays a reading or numbers, the cooperative is providing you with power. If the meter is blank, you will need to report the outage to the cooperative at (888) 747-2206.
-
Check with your neighbors to see if they have power. This helps both you and the cooperative determine the extent of the outage. If you know your neighbors are without power, report both locations to the cooperative.
Call Guthrie County REC at (641) 747-2206 or (888) 747-2206 to report your outage. It is helpful for our after-hours dispatch service that you have your account number or map location number available.
PLEASE NOTE: If you report an outage and we visit your location, and the problem is not on the cooperative's side, you may be charged a fee. People who depend on a life-support system should have a back-up power source.
