Mailed payments should arrive at the office by the due date and be made by check or money order. Send the bottom portion of the bill with your payment to ensure proper credit on your account utilizing the return envelope provided. If a question arises as to the validity of a personal check, cash or a money order may be required. Second party checks will not be accepted. If a check is not honored because of "insufficient funds" or for any other reason, a service charge will be assessed and the account status will be the same as if no payment had been made. If a payment is made by personal check in order to avoid service termination, and the check is not honored, service may be disconnected after a 24-hour notification.
Enrollment in this plan allows our members to pay their bills by automatic electronic funds transfer from a bank, savings and loan, or credit union checking or savings account. In addition, you can sign up to have your bill automatically applied to your credit card each month. To sign up for this free service, complete an automatic authorization form and submit along with a voided check to the cooperative office.
It's convenient! It's accurate! The program works by establishing an individual payment amount based on the average of your previous year's electrical consumption. The budget bill amount will remain fixed for one year and will be recalculated in August with adjustments made accordingly. To qualify, you must have lived at the same location for at least 12 months and have an account in good standing. Call the office at (641) 747-2206 or (888) 747-2206 to find out more information.
Bring your payment (cash, check, MasterCard or Visa) along with the payment stub to the Guthrie County REC office in Guthrie Center. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.; or give us a call and make your payment using a credit card or bank account at (641) 747-2206 or (888) 747-2206. We also have a night deposit box that may be used at any time.
Important Notice: With our new member messaging system, we are now able to make automated calls to our members.
Please be aware that calls regarding delinquent bills and past due notices on your electric bill will now come from our automated system and NOT a Guthrie County REC office employee.
Delinquent notices will still be mailed out at the beginning of the month stating the amount past due and date of disconnection-typically the 15th of the month. Automated calls will be made any time after the 15th of the month! The automated call will state that we are calling in regard to your account needing attention and our office number will be listed. PLEASE call us back to discuss your account!
If we have not heard from you regarding your account, we will post the property 2 days after the automated call has been made and charge a $50 posting fee. It is important that you call us to avoid this extra charge!
We understand that scams threating to disconnect your power have been increasing; however, our automated call will not ask for any payment information or personal information! You can always contact our office directly at 888-747-2206 to speak with office staff who can verify calls.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we implement this new feature to better serve you!
